Academic Review
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has developed a website to solicit feedback from the public on the eligible content in English language arts and mathematics in grades three through eight, and Algebra I and Literature at the secondary level.

Pennsylvania’s eligible content statements are a straightforward set of what we want students to know and do at each grade level, and serve as the blueprint for the state assessments.

This website was designed to promote public awareness and understanding of the eligible content and obtain feedback from Pennsylvania educators, parents and the general public on the eligible content statements, their purpose, and value.

Meet Avi the Canine Officer
Second Grade students recently read Tara & Tiree. The book Tara & Tiree is based on a true story about two dogs who save their owner from drowning when the ice breaks. Students spent time discussing how dogs help people and are heroes in so many ways.
On Friday, October 17 the students met “Avi”, the Neshannock Township K-9 Officer and saw in action how he protects the residents of Neshannock Township. Students were amazed at his skill and obedience to his partner Officer Al DeCarbo, of the Neshannock Township Police Department. Officer DeCarbo was joined by Neshannock Lieutenant John Rand and Officers Matt Seamans and Jeremy DeWitt.
We appreciate the great relationship the School District has built with the township police and fire departments.
Neshannock Retires Football Number 57 in Honor of 1974 Graduate

Tom Brzoza, the son of Dr. Joseph and Patricia Brzoza, is a 1974 Neshannock graduate who started on the varsity football team as a junior and a senior. He was a two way starter as a senior while being named to the First Team All-WPIAL Class A and All Tri-County by both the Pittsburgh Press and Post-Gazzete. Tom was awarded two varsity letters in football and two in track during his time here.

Neshannock Recognized for Educational Excellence

Neshannock Township Junior/Senior High School has recently been recognized by Newsweek’s publication, The Daily Beast, for academic excellence. Neshannock High School ranked #242 of more than 22,000 secondary schools in the nation.
The Daily Beast analyzed six indicators pulled from school surveys to compare public high schools in the United States, with graduation (top 100) and college acceptance rates weighed most heavily. Other criteria included: college-level courses and exams, percentage of students with free or reduced lunch, as well as SAT and ACT scores - another mark of how well a school prepares students for college. The list, in its entirety, can be viewed at:
We applaud the students, staff, and community for the unwavering commitment to the mission and vision that guides success.
