On September 13, 1958 the first ever Neshannock Lancer football team took the field and started the gridiron tradition that continues today. Fifty years ago, thirty-four young men from grades 9 through 11 suited up for a game against Mohawk and the rest is history. The Neshannock Township School Board of Directors and administration under the direction of the Touch Down Club partnered to invite the members of that team back to Neshannock opening night, Friday, September 19, 2008. Eleven of the players and their families were welcomed with a dinner prior to the start of the festivities. Prior to the start of the game, cheerleaders escorted the players onto the new football/soccer field for their introduction.
